KILAUEA STEAM VENT SUNRISE

While Kilauea is the most active volcano in the United States, and the heart of Volcanoes National Park on the “Big Island” of Hawaii, it isn’t always lava that makes a nice picture.  Along the northwest side of the Kilauea Caldera is an area known as the “Steam Vents.”  This is an area near along the edge of the caldera where steam just continuously comes out of the ground through vents.  This definitely lets you know something is up!  This photo was taken at sunrise in January of 2016.  Resolution of the source image is 2336 x 3405.
