SUN BREAK IN THE SNOQUALMIE VALLEY

My home is in the town of Duvall, WA, on the east side of the Snoqualmie River Valley.  It is a fairly rural town and farming is still very much a way of life in the valley.  The valley is vibrant, and the Snoqualmie River lazily winds it way through the valley as it later on joins up with the Snohomish River to make its journey to Puget Sound.  To the west of Duvall you run into Redmond (home of Microsoft), and Kirkland (original headquarters of Costco), and beyond that is Bellevue and Lake Washington, and on the other side of Lake Washington is Seattle.  As I got into aerial drone photography, I got this shot of the sunset from over part of Duvall that is up on top of the “hill” looking across the Snoqualmie Valley toward Redmond and Seattle.  This image was taken from an altitude of about 400 feet above ground and about 800 feet above mean sea level and captured a phenomenon in the Seattle area that we call a “Sun Break.”  A Sun Break is where you have fairly cloud sky, but you get breaks in the clouds and the warm sunlight floods through lights the ground below.  Here you can see the Sun Break over the valley.  In the high resolution versions of this image, if you zoom in on the horizon you can see the Seattle skyline in the distance.  The resolution of the source image is 5464 x 3640.
